CRA Sudbury Tax Centre address and who mails there

Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check

CRA Sudbury means the Sudbury Tax Centre, a processing site at 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2. Paper returns from Ontario, the Atlantic provinces and Nunavut get mailed there, but you can’t walk in and speak to anyone.

What is the Sudbury Tax Centre?

It’s one of four tax centres on the Canada Revenue Agency’s list. The others are Jonquière, Prince Edward Island and Winnipeg. A tax centre handles paper: returns, forms, letters and payments that arrive by mail or fax. It isn’t a counter where you queue with a receipt in your hand, and the CRA says so on its own contact page, which states there is no walk-in service at these locations.

That surprises people who search for “CRA Sudbury office” and expect opening hours. The city name goes on your envelope and that’s the extent of it. Need to talk to a person? Call the CRA. Need to send paper? Write to Sudbury.

Who mails their paper return to Sudbury?

The CRA sorts paper T1 returns by where you live. According to its page on where to mail a T1, the Sudbury Tax Centre takes returns from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut and Prince Edward Island. Some areas of Ontario are included too: Barrie, Belleville, Kingston, Ottawa, Peterborough, St. Catharines, Sudbury and Toronto. So are Montréal, Outaouais and Sherbrooke in Quebec.

Live somewhere else in Ontario? Then don’t assume. Check the page against your own address before you buy a stamp, because a return sent to the wrong centre just loses time.

Which address and fax number do you use?

Two addresses exist. Most people grab the wrong one.

What you’re sending Where it goes
Income tax and benefit returns Sudbury Tax Centre, 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2
Everything else Post Office Box 20000, Station A, Sudbury ON P3A 5C1
Fax 705-671-3994 or 1-855-276-1529

Compare the postal codes. The return address ends in 5C2, the post office box in 5C1. A return addressed to the box will cost you time.

Should you mail a return at all?

Mostly no. Filing online is faster, and you see errors before you submit. Paper makes sense if you prefer it, or if you have a form that can’t be filed electronically. Before you print anything, run your numbers once so you know what to expect. Say your taxable income is $60,000 in Ontario. Our income tax calculator shows $6,192.73 of federal tax and $3,224.52 of Ontario tax. That’s before CPP and EI credits, so your real bill will be a little lower.

If you’re owed money, the tax refund calculator gives a rough figure. Compare it with what your return says, and look into any big gap. For people who owe tax during the year, the tax instalments calculator splits the amount into payments.

What else lands in Sudbury?

The centre isn’t only for individuals. The CRA says it assesses and reassesses returns filed by non-resident corporations. Section 216 returns go to Sudbury or Winnipeg, depending on the country where the person lives. Non-resident GST/HST enquiries also have their own Sudbury page. If any of that describes you, start on the CRA page for your case, not on ours.

Common mistakes with paper mail

Most problems are small. People send the return to the box address. Others mail it to the wrong centre, or attach every receipt they own when the form says to keep them at home. Nobody wants to wait weeks for a letter about a missing page.

Keep a photocopy of everything you mail, and use tracked post if the deadline is close. We couldn’t find a CRA statement about mailing dates or how a postmark counts for 2026 returns, so check the deadline on canada.ca before you rely on the date on your envelope. For the 2025 return, our data lists 30 April 2026 as the filing date for most individuals.

And if your only reason for mailing is to avoid a screen, try the take-home pay calculator first. Once you know your yearly numbers, the form gets easier to fill.

Where do these details come from?

The addresses, fax numbers, the no walk-in statement and the list of areas are on the CRA’s contact pages on canada.ca, read on 30 September 2026. Tax figures in the example come from 2026 federal and Ontario data. Addresses change now and then, so confirm on the CRA site before you post anything important. This site has no link with the CRA.
