Canada Revenue Agency Edmonton: Office and Phone Help

Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check

The Canada Revenue Agency lists a tax services office at Canada Place, 9700 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, but that office has no walk-in counter. If you’re searching for the Canada Revenue Agency in Edmonton because you want to talk to someone, the phone and your online account are the ways in.

Can you visit the Edmonton CRA office?

Not to ask a question or drop off a form. The CRA’s office locations page says there is no walk-in counter service at its tax services offices, and Edmonton is one of four Alberta locations it lists, along with Calgary, Lethbridge and Red Deer. The office exists for the agency’s own work and for some mail, not for appointments at the front desk.

It’s a familiar story. Someone drives across town with a folder of papers, finds a security desk instead of a service counter, and drives home again. Save yourself the gas.

The same Jasper Avenue address is given for the International Waivers Centre of Expertise, which handles waiver applications under Regulations 102 and 105 for services provided in the Prairie Region. That’s a niche filing for non-resident service providers. Most people will never use it.

Before you post anything to Edmonton, check the CRA’s “Find a CRA address” page for your form. Many returns and payments go to a tax centre in another province, or can be sent online.

How do you reach the CRA from Alberta?

These are the numbers on the CRA’s contact page, read in September 2026.

Need Number
Personal tax and benefits questions 1-800-959-8281
Business enquiries 1-800-959-5525
Benefits and credits 1-800-387-1193
Live phone lines, Monday to Friday 8 am to 8 pm Eastern
Automated phone service 6 am to 3 am Eastern

Here’s the catch for Edmonton callers. The hours are in Eastern time. Alberta is two hours behind Ontario, so a live agent line that opens at 8 am Eastern opens at 6 am in Edmonton and closes at 6 pm. Call at 9 am your time and you’re already three hours into their day.

The CRA also says that when call volumes are high, it may send you to the automated line, and if the wait passes 30 minutes you get redirected there as well. Try My Account first. Balances, notices, the status of your return and most benefit questions are there, and the agent will ask for the same details anyway.

What should you have ready before you call?

Your social insurance number, your postal code, and last year’s return or notice of assessment, since the agent will verify you with figures from it. If you’re calling about a refund that looks wrong, write down what you filed first. The tax refund calculator gives you a quick estimate to compare against.

Say you earn $60,000 in Alberta. In our take-home pay calculator, that’s $5,338.30 of federal tax and $2,631.30 of Alberta tax, $7,969.60 in all, with CPP and EI on top. If your notice shows something far from that, you know what to ask. Note that the tool counts only the basic personal amount and the pension and EI credits, so extras like tuition or medical costs will lower your real bill. Treat it as a ballpark, not a verdict.

Keep a pen handy and write down the date, the agent’s name or ID and what they told you. If the same question comes up again, that note saves you a second round of explaining.

Where does a local tax office or accountant come in?

People searching for tax help in Edmonton often land on private firms too, and that’s a separate thing from the CRA. We can’t confirm any firm’s prices, services or results, so we won’t name one. What we can do is help you choose, and our guide to choosing a tax preparer has the longer list.

Ask what the fee is before you start, and whether it’s a flat price or by the hour. Ask who prepares the return and who signs it. Ask what happens if the CRA writes to you next year, and whether that’s covered. A good firm answers all three without a fuss.

If you’re self-employed, ask whether they’ll handle instalments too. The tax instalments calculator shows roughly what you’d owe each quarter, and a business owner with staff can check remittances in the payroll remittance calculator.

What if the line is jammed?

It happens, especially in April. Don’t redial every two minutes. Try the quieter parts of the day, such as early morning in Edmonton when the lines have just opened in the east, and keep the call short by knowing the one question you need answered. If the question is about a form or a payment, check whether My Account already answers it. If it’s urgent, say so at the start of the call.

Where do the facts come from?

Office locations, the lack of walk-in service, phone numbers and hours come from the Canada Revenue Agency‘s contact and office pages, read in September 2026. The tax figures come from this site’s calculators using 2026 rates. We have no link to the CRA or any government body, and we couldn’t confirm the current opening hours of any private Edmonton firm.
