This page explains what tax-services.ca is, what it is not, and the rules for using it. In short: everything on this site is for information only. We provide no services. We do not represent the Canada Revenue Agency, any government or any other organization, so please take every question to the official organizations. We collect information from open sources and do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or current. We accept no liability for how you use it. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Last updated: 11 October 2026.
What this site is and is not
tax-services.ca is an independent, information-only website. It publishes guides, articles and free calculators about taxes in every province and territory of Canada.
We do not prepare or file tax returns. We do not offer accounting, legal, financial, investment or tax advice, and we do not sell any of those services. Nothing on this site is a recommendation for your particular situation.
Using this site, contacting us or reading our content does not create an accountant-client, lawyer-client, advisor-client or any other professional relationship between you and us.
No government affiliation
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenu Quebec, any federal, provincial or territorial government, any regulator, any accounting or legal body, or any tax software vendor. Names of agencies and programs are used only to describe them.
Accuracy and currency of information
We collect information from open sources, mainly official government websites such as the CRA and provincial or territorial sites, and show a “last checked” date on our pages. We do not guarantee that any of it is accurate, complete or current. Tax rates, thresholds, credits and rules change often, sometimes in the middle of a year. Content may be out of date, incomplete or wrong despite our efforts.
All questions about your own taxes, benefits or filings should go to the official organizations. Before you rely on anything here, confirm it with the CRA, Revenu Quebec, your provincial or territorial authority, or a licensed professional such as a chartered professional accountant or a lawyer. You can read how we verify figures on our How we check rates page and learn about who writes the content on our Editorial team page.
Calculators give estimates only
Our calculators give estimates for planning and learning. They use published rates and simplified assumptions. They do not know your full circumstances, and they may leave out credits, deductions, clawbacks, surtaxes or special rules that apply to you.
Results are not a tax assessment, a quote or a guarantee of what you will owe or receive. Your actual result may differ, sometimes by a lot.
No guarantee of results
We do not promise any particular outcome from using this site, including any refund, saving, benefit amount or approval. The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for your own tax filings, decisions and deadlines, and for checking that the information you use is right for you. If you have a complex situation, or a lot is at stake, speak with a licensed professional.
Examples are illustrative
Some articles use examples with invented people, incomes and numbers. They are there to explain an idea. Any resemblance to a real person is a coincidence, and the figures are not a prediction of your own situation.
Third-party links and advertising
We link to official government pages and to some other websites. Links open in a new tab. We do not control those sites, and a link is not an endorsement. Their content and privacy practices are their own responsibility.
This site shows advertising provided by Google AdSense. Ads are served by Google, not by us, and we do not choose or endorse the advertisers or their products. An ad is not tax, legal or financial advice. Please read our Privacy Policy to learn how advertising and cookies work on this site.

You may quote short extracts with credit and a link back to the page. Please do not copy whole pages, scrape the site at scale or republish our calculators without written permission.

Acceptable use
When using this site, you agree not to:
- break the law or use the site for any unlawful purpose;
- try to disrupt, overload, hack or gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems;
- use bots or automated tools in a way that harms the site or its performance;

Limitation of liability
The operator and anyone who contributes to this site accept no responsibility or liability, to the fullest extent the law permits, for any loss or damage, whether direct or indirect, that arises from your use of the site or your reliance on its content or calculators. This includes penalties, interest, lost refunds, lost benefits, extra tax, or business or financial losses.
Some rights cannot be waived. Consumer-protection laws in your province or territory, and the Civil Code of Quebec, may give you rights that these terms cannot remove, and some limits on liability may not apply to you. In particular, nothing here excludes liability for intentional or gross fault, or for bodily injury, where the law does not allow that. If any part of this section is not allowed where you live, it applies only as far as the law permits, and the rest of this page stays in effect.
Changes to this page
We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be brought before the courts of Ontario, subject to any mandatory rights you have to bring a claim in your own province or territory, including in Quebec.
