Most federal family benefits depend on your household income, and the amounts reset every July when a new benefit year starts. These calculators take your numbers and estimate what you may receive, so you can plan before you apply and don’t get caught out when a payment is smaller or later than you’d hoped.
Out of work? Begin with the EI calculator, which estimates weekly regular benefits.

New parents can compare leave options in the maternity and parental leave calculator, which lays the standard and extended choices side by side, so you can see what you’d give up by taking the longer leave. If you have children under 18, the Canada Child Benefit calculator gives you the monthly payment.
Lower-income households may also get the GST/HST credit, paid every quarter. And if a condition limits your daily living, the disability tax credit calculator estimates the yearly value and a possible refund for earlier years.
What should I do before applying?
Your benefit amounts rest on your tax return, so a late or missing filing can hold up payments. Spouses or partners both have to file, because the payment is based on your combined net income. That catches people out. It doesn’t take long to fix, though.
Most benefits start only after you apply, and some pay from the date of the application rather than the date of the event. Gather your record of employment, your tax notice and your children’s details before you start, because it’s slow to hunt for them halfway through. Provincial programs, such as child or drug plans, are separate, and these tools don’t count them.
Results are estimates under the 2026 program rules. The Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada decide the final amount, and this site has no link to either.
Frequently asked questions
How is the Canada Child Benefit worked out?
It depends on how many children you have, their ages and your adjusted family net income. The payment shrinks as income rises.
How many weeks of EI can I get?
It varies with regional unemployment and your insured hours, and a legal cap applies.
Do I fill in a form for the GST/HST credit?
No. The credit is set from your filed return, and if you qualify the payment follows without a form.
Can I claim the disability credit for earlier years?
Yes. Once you're approved, you can ask to change past returns, usually back as far as ten years.
