Tax-Services.ca helps people in Canada work out what a tax rule means for them. It has dozens of calculators for income tax, pay, sales tax, property, savings and small business, and plain-language guides that explain the numbers behind each result.
What you will find here
- Calculators for take-home pay, income tax, GST and HST, land transfer tax, RRSP and TFSA growth, mortgages and more
- Guides that answer the questions people ask before they file, hire, buy a home or start a business
- Notes on the rules that change every year, with the date of the last review on each calculator page
Start with the calculator list if you have a number to work out, or with the guides if you have a question to answer.
Where the numbers come from
Rates, thresholds and limits come from government pages: the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec and the provinces. The maths is written as code and tested against worked examples. When two official pages disagree, or a figure can’t be confirmed, the page says so instead of guessing. The full method is on the rate checking page.
Who writes it
An editorial team writes, checks and updates every page. Articles carry no personal names because each one goes through the same steps. If you spot a mistake, write to us through the contact form and name the page, and we’ll look at it.
What we are not
We are not the CRA, Revenu Québec or a tax firm. We don’t prepare returns and we can’t give advice about your own file. The calculators give estimates from public rules, and real results depend on details a calculator can’t see. For your own situation, ask the CRA or a qualified professional.
How the site is paid for
The site earns money from advertising. Ads don’t change a calculator result or the wording of a guide, and any paid link is labelled as sponsored. You can read the details on the advertising page.
Privacy
Calculators run in your browser, and the figures you type are not sent to us. The privacy policy explains what the site does collect, such as basic visit statistics and ad cookies.
