CRA news: latest releases from the Canada Revenue Agency

Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check

These are the CRA’s latest public news releases, pulled from the Government of Canada news feed once a day. We don’t rewrite them, because the original is always the better source.

The page is for people who want to hear about a change before it lands in their pay, their benefit payment or their mailbox. CRA news releases announce new payment dates, changes to benefits, the start of filing season and warnings about scams, and most of it never reaches the front page of a newspaper. Instead of hunting through a government website, you can scan the latest five headlines here and click through to the full release on the CRA’s own page.

How to read them is simple. Look at the date first, since a release from February may already be old news. Then decide whether it touches you: a change to child benefit payments matters if you receive one, a filing-season launch matters to nearly everyone, and a scam warning matters to everybody. If something does apply, our guides and calculators can show what it means in dollars. We don’t comment on the releases or predict what comes next, and nothing here is advice for you or anyone else.

A note on timing. The feed is fetched once a day, so this page is not real time. Each headline shows the date the CRA published it, and a release from this morning may not appear until the next refresh. For anything urgent, go straight to the CRA’s news page.

Why read this?

News releases often announce new deadlines, scams and changes to payments. You’ll find new deadlines, scam warnings and payment changes here, and you shouldn’t have to hunt for them. Can’t see anything above? The feed may be down, so check the CRA’s own news page. For dates that never change, see the tax calendar, and for current limits, the numbers for the year. Our guide to dealing with the CRA covers letters and calls, and the benefits and credits guide explains the payments that releases often mention.

If you’re ever unsure whether a message you received is real, don’t click anything in it, because scammers copy the look of CRA notices, and instead sign in to your own CRA account or call the agency using the number on its website.

We’re not the CRA, and this isn’t advice for you or anyone else.
