Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check
Yukon taxes income at 6.4%, 9%, 10.9%, 12.8% and 15%, and its basic personal amount follows the federal pattern: $16,452 for most people. There's no territorial sales tax, only the 5% GST.
Yukon is easy to read next to the federal system, because the two follow the same pattern in several places. Here’s what that means for your income tax, and why the sales tax side is so short.
What are the brackets for 2026?
The territorial rate is 6.4% on your first $58,523 of taxable income, 9% up to $117,045, 10.9% up to $181,440, 12.8% up to $500,000 and 15% above that. Credits count at 6.4% of the amount you claim. The limits page lists the federal layer.
Take $60,000. The first $58,523 costs you $3,745 and the other $1,477 costs you $133, which makes $3,878. The basic amount credit takes off $1,053, so you’d pay about $2,825 of Yukon tax.
What’s different about Yukon?
The first three brackets use the same dollar limits as the federal ones, $58,523, $117,045 and $181,440, and the basic personal amount works the same way: $16,452 for most people, falling to $14,829 for those with high incomes. That makes Yukon easy to read next to the federal table.
The rates are the lowest of any province or territory at the bottom, 6.4%.
How does sales tax work here?
Only the 5% GST applies. There’s no territorial tax on top, so a $100 item costs $105. The GST and HST calculator shows Yukon as GST only, and the sales tax guide compares the rest.
Which calculators include it?
The income tax calculator and the take-home pay calculator both include Yukon. Pick it from the list and the Yukon rates apply. Both show how much of your pay goes to tax.
Where to read more
The guide to how income tax works explains how the two layers stack, and the province index lists the other provinces and territories.
Before you rely on these numbers
You’ll want to check three things before you act on any figure here, because rates and credits do change and you wouldn’t want an old number in a real return: the date at the top of the page, the CRA source we name, and your own slip or notice, which always wins if it differs from a summary like this one.
Don’t guess.
Not sure where to start? Our filing guide walks you through the steps, the document checklist shows what you’ll need, and the province index lets you compare where you live with other places. Is your situation unusual? Then a qualified preparer is the right call, and we can’t advise you ourselves.
