Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check
The Sudbury tax office most people mean is the CRA’s Sudbury tax centre at 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, and canada.ca lists it as a mailing address, not as a place to walk in. Returns go to postal code P3A 5C2, and other letters go to Post Office Box 20000, Station A, P3A 5C1. Almost everything you’d mail there can be done online instead.
What is the Sudbury tax centre for?
It’s where paper returns and CRA mail get processed. The CRA’s address page shows the two mailing addresses and, next to them, a prompt to submit online instead. We couldn’t find any page that lists a public counter at that address, so don’t drive there with a shoebox of receipts.
If you’re looking for a local accountant instead, that’s a different thing. The CRA doesn’t recommend firms, and this site has no link with the CRA or any office in Sudbury. We can’t tell you who’s good. We can tell you how to check.
Where should a Sudbury resident go for tax help?
Three routes work for most people.
First, CRA My Account and the CRA phone lines answer questions about your own file: slips, balances, notices. Second, a free tax clinic, if your income is modest and your return is simple. Clinics are hosted by community organizations under the CRA’s volunteer program, and the CRA page explains the drop-off and appointment options. We’re leaving out income limits because they differ between CRA pages. Read the current one.
Third, a paid preparer. The CRA says to use its directory of certified EFILE providers, to review the electronic return yourself and to sign Part F of Form T183 before anything is sent. Keep the T183 with your slips for six years.
What does tax cost a Sudbury employee?
Sudbury is in Ontario, so the Ontario rates apply. These figures come from our income tax calculator for a single person with only employment income and 2026 rules.
| Salary | Income tax | CPP and EI | Left after both |
|---|---|---|---|
| $40,000 | $4,363 | $2,824 | $32,814 |
| $60,000 | $8,320 | $4,340 | $47,340 |
| $90,000 | $17,034 | $5,770 | $67,197 |
| $150,000 | $39,911 | $5,770 | $104,320 |
Why is the CPP and EI column the same at $90,000 and $150,000? Both plans have yearly earnings ceilings, and both are reached before $90,000.
Try your own pay in the income tax calculator, or see the cheque itself in the take-home pay calculator. If you expect a refund, the tax refund calculator estimates it from what your employer withheld.
When does the Sudbury office matter to you?
Mostly when you owe money or want to argue a notice. Your notice of assessment and any refund are usually processed within two weeks after filing, according to the CRA. If yours isn’t, check My Account before you call anyone. Waiting on hold for something the portal already shows is a poor use of an afternoon.
Paying instalments is another case. If you have self-employment or rental income, the tax instalments calculator shows what four equal payments would look like. Our data says the usual threshold is $3,000 of tax owing, with payments due on 15 March, 15 June, 15 September and 15 December, but that came from a summary of the CRA page, so confirm it there.
What did we not confirm about Sudbury?
We didn’t confirm opening hours, phone extensions or whether any CRA staff meet the public in Sudbury. We also didn’t verify any local accountant’s fees or services. Where a page might have those details, we point you to the CRA and leave the rest out.
Where do these numbers come from?
The addresses come from the CRA’s page on tax services offices and tax centres. Preparer advice is from the CRA page on professional tax preparers. Tax amounts come from our engine, built on 2026 federal and Ontario rates and the 2026 CPP and EI limits.
