Updated Checked by the Tax-Services.ca editorial team How we check
If you’re searching for CRA Vancouver hoping to walk in and talk to someone, save the bus fare. The Canada Revenue Agency lists a Vancouver tax services office at 468 Terminal Avenue, but its own office page says there is no walk-in counter at these locations, and the addresses are for mail.
So what does work? Mostly your online account, the phone and the post. This page covers which route suits which problem, and what a BC return actually costs you, since that’s usually the reason people are looking.
Is there a CRA Vancouver office you can visit?
The assumption here is that you mean the agency’s own office, not a private firm that uses “CRA” in its name. The agency’s office locations page lists six British Columbia offices: Vancouver, Victoria, Surrey, Kelowna, Penticton and Prince George. Each is a place on a map, and each sends its mail to one shared address in Surrey. None offers a walk-in counter.
There is no walk-in counter service at these locations.

That surprises people. A tax problem feels like something you fix face to face, sitting across a desk from a person with your file open, but the agency isn’t set up that way. The CRA points people to My Account, the phone lines and secure mail, and it encourages online filing over paper.
Any business that says it is “the CRA in Vancouver” and asks you to visit or pay a fee should raise a flag. What any private firm charges or offers can’t be verified here, so none are rated. What you can check is whether the agency’s own contact page lists them. It won’t.
Which route fits which problem?
A quick guide, based on what the CRA’s contact and filing pages describe.
| What you need | Route to try first |
|---|---|
| File a return or check a refund | My Account and NETFILE-certified software |
| Send paper or a form | Mail to the tax centre or office address for your case |
| Let an accountant act for you | Authorize a representative in My Account, or by Form AUT-01 |
| Understand your own numbers | An estimate from a calculator before you call |
| Free help with a simple return | The CRA’s outreach and tax help page |
| Pay a balance in person | A Canada Post outlet, by cash or debit, for a fee, with a QR code from the CRA |
The mailing address depends on what you’re sending, so use the agency’s “Find a CRA address” page rather than copying one from a search result. Old addresses linger online.
What does a BC return cost you?
Most people who look for the local office really want to know what they owe. BC residents file one return. It carries the federal tax and the BC tax together, so there’s no separate BC form for income tax.
Take a salary of $75,000 in British Columbia. The income tax calculator gives $8,259 of federal tax and $3,661 of BC tax, $11,920 in all. That’s an average rate of 15.9%. CPP and EI add another $5,370 through payroll, which leaves about $57,711 in your pocket from the $75,000.
The exact figure on your slip will differ if you have deductions, credits, or a second income. If you want to see the pay side, the take-home pay calculator does the per-paycheque split, so you can see roughly what lands in the bank every two weeks.
Calling the CRA without wasting an hour
Have your Social Insurance Number, last year’s notice of assessment and the return in front of you. Say what you want in one sentence. “I filed on March 20 and my refund hasn’t arrived” gets a faster answer than “I have a question about my taxes”.
Before you call about a balance or a refund, run your own number. The tax refund calculator shows whether a refund is realistic at all, and that alone can save you the call. If you’re self-employed or have income with no tax taken off, look at the tax instalments calculator too, because the CRA may ask you to pay during the year.
And if your question is about your top rate on the next dollar you earn, the marginal tax rate calculator answers it without a phone queue.
What if you really need to see someone in person?
The CRA isn’t the only government counter in town. Service Canada runs its own offices, and they deal with things like Social Insurance Numbers, not income tax accounts. The CRA also has an outreach and tax help page that lists free help for people with simple returns, some of it in person. Check it before paying anyone, since a volunteer clinic costs nothing.
Mistakes that send people to the phone
Most calls come from a few slips. Filing with the wrong province (what counts is where you lived on December 31). Forgetting a slip, so the CRA’s copy doesn’t match yours. Mailing a form to the wrong centre, because the address changed. Or leaving a balance unpaid because you assumed the refund estimate was the whole story, when a second income or a missed slip had already changed it.
Most of it is cheap to fix if you catch it early. Keep a copy of everything you send. If a letter arrives, read the date in it before anything else.
Where these figures come from
Office details come from the Canada Revenue Agency‘s pages on office locations and mailing addresses. Tax figures come from the 2026 federal and BC rates loaded in our calculators. Phone hours and wait times weren’t confirmed, so check the CRA contact page for those. This is an independent site, and no government body is behind it.

Can I walk into the CRA office in Vancouver?
No. The CRA's office page says there is no walk-in counter at its locations, and the addresses listed are for mail.
Where do I mail my tax return in BC?
It depends on what you're sending. Use the CRA's Find a CRA address page for the current address instead of copying one from a search result.
Does BC have its own income tax return?
No. You file one return that includes federal and BC tax, if you're a BC resident on December 31.
How much tax is that on $75,000 in BC?
Our calculator gives $11,920, made of $8,259 federal and $3,661 BC tax, before CPP and EI of $5,370.

Yes, once you authorize them. You can do that in My Account or by sending Form AUT-01.
