# Yukon income tax and GST in 2026

> How Yukon income tax works in 2026: five brackets from 6.4%, a basic personal amount that follows the federal pattern, GST only and Yukon calculators

Yukon's rates sit close to the federal pattern, and on a $60,000 income the territorial tax comes to about $2,825. The sales tax side is short: GST only, no territorial tax on top. Here's how both work.

## What are the brackets for 2026?

The territorial rate is 6.4% on your first $58,523 of taxable income, 9% up to $117,045, 10.9% up to $181,440, 12.8% up to $500,000 and 15% above that. Credits count at 6.4% of the amount you claim. These match the [CRA's 2026 tax rates and income brackets](https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/tax-rates-brackets/current-year.html). The [limits page](https://tax-services.ca/tax-numbers) lists the federal layer.

Take $60,000. The first $58,523 costs you $3,745 and the other $1,477 costs you $133, which makes $3,878. The basic amount credit takes off $1,053, so you'd pay about $2,825 of Yukon tax. That's under 5 cents on the dollar. At $60,000 you're already past the first limit, so a $1,000 raise for Amara in Whitehorse is taxed at 9%, about $90 more territorial tax, with the federal share on top.

## What's different about Yukon?

The first three brackets use the same dollar limits as the federal ones, $58,523, $117,045 and $181,440, and the basic personal amount works the same way: $16,452 for most people, falling to $14,829 for those with high incomes. That makes Yukon easy to read next to the federal table.

The 6.4% bottom rate is low, though it isn't the lowest in the country. The CRA's table shows Ontario at 5.05%, British Columbia at 5.6%, the Northwest Territories at 5.9% and Nunavut at 4%, all below it. Next to provinces that tax the first slice harder, such as Alberta at 8% or Manitoba at 10.8%, Yukon looks gentle.

## How does sales tax work here?

Only the 5% GST applies. There's no territorial tax on top, so a $100 item costs $105 and a $20 lunch comes to $21. The [GST and HST calculator](https://tax-services.ca/calculators/sales-tax/gst-hst-calculator) shows Yukon as GST only, and the [sales tax guide](https://tax-services.ca/guides/gst-hst-pst) compares the rest.

## Which calculators include it?

The [income tax calculator](https://tax-services.ca/calculators/income-tax/income-tax-calculator) and the [take-home pay calculator](https://tax-services.ca/calculators/payroll-salary/take-home-pay-calculator) both include Yukon. Pick it from the list and the Yukon rates apply. Both show how much of your pay goes to tax.

## Where to read more

The [guide to how income tax works](https://tax-services.ca/guides/how-canadian-taxes-work) explains how the two layers stack, and the [province index](https://tax-services.ca/provinces) lists the other provinces and territories.

## Before you rely on these numbers

Rates and credits change, so check three things before you act on any figure here: the date at the top of the page, the CRA source named in the text, and your own slip or notice. Your slip or notice wins whenever it differs from a summary like this one.

Don't guess.

Not sure where to start? The [filing guide](https://tax-services.ca/guides/file-your-taxes) walks through the steps, the [document checklist](https://tax-services.ca/checklists/documents-for-your-tax-return) shows what to gather, and the [province index](https://tax-services.ca/provinces) compares other places. Is your situation unusual? A qualified preparer is the right call. This site is independent of the CRA and any government, and can't advise you on your own return.
