# Hourly Paycheque Calculator for Weekly and Yearly Pay

> Turn an hourly wage into weekly, monthly and yearly pay, then see what is left after 2026 tax, CPP and EI deductions come off

At $28 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, you earn $58,240 a year. In Ontario, once deductions come off, that works out to about $22.19 for every hour you put in.

## How do you turn a wage into weekly, monthly and yearly pay?

Multiply the hourly wage by your weekly hours, then by the paid weeks in the year. The calculator does that and splits the yearly total into monthly, two-week and weekly amounts. Want to go the other way? Tick the box, type a salary, and you get the wage that matches.

One setting trips people up: paid weeks. Use 52 if your holidays and vacation are paid, and enter fewer if they aren't. Paid vacation counts as paid weeks, so if your employer pays it, leave the count at 52.

## How many hours are in a working year?

The hours depend on your schedule, and so does the pay. Here's the same $28 wage across three common weeks.

| Week | Paid hours a year (52 weeks) | Yearly pay at $28 an hour |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 40 hours | 2,080 | $58,240 |
| 37.5 hours | 1,950 | $54,600 |
| 35 hours | 1,820 | $50,960 |

The 37.5 hour week is what you get from a 9 to 5 day with a half-hour unpaid lunch, which is 7.5 paid hours, five days a week.

## What does $28 an hour look like in Ontario?

With the default settings you get $58,240 a year before deductions. That's $4,853.33 a month, $2,240.00 every two weeks and $1,120.00 a week.

After deductions the year comes to $46,154, or $22.19 an hour. Income tax and the two contributions eat almost $6 of every hour.

Now flip it. Tick the salary box and enter $70,000, and the tool shows $33.65 an hour before deductions and $25.86 after them, on 40 hours and 52 weeks. Someone on $20 an hour and 37.5 hours a week makes $39,000 a year, or $3,250 a month, and keeps $32,065.

## Weekly, every two weeks or twice a month?

The yearly pay is the same, but the number of cheques isn't, and that changes how each one looks. Here is the $58,240 year before deductions on four common schedules.

| Pay schedule | Cheques a year | Each cheque |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Weekly | 52 | $1,120.00 |
| Every two weeks | 26 | $2,240.00 |
| Twice a month | 24 | $2,426.67 |
| Monthly | 12 | $4,853.33 |

A toonie more an hour is a handy yardstick too. On 40 hours and 52 weeks, an extra $2 is $4,160 a year before deductions.

## Why can two people on the same wage earn so differently?

Hours and weeks. Fewer paid weeks shrink the total, and unpaid overtime drags the real hourly rate down. A contract worker on 48 paid weeks at $28 and 40 hours makes $53,760, which is $4,480 less than the 52 week figure. Planning extra hours? ## Is my wage above the minimum?

Ontario's general minimum wage went up to $17.95 an hour on 1 October 2026, from $17.60. The province's [minimum wage guide](https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/minimum-wage) has the details. Full-time at 40 hours and 52 weeks, $17.95 comes to $37,336 a year before deductions. Other provinces are in the [minimum wage calculator](https://tax-services.ca/calculators/payroll-salary/minimum-wage). If a bonus lands on top of your wage, it's taxed differently, and the [bonus tax calculator](https://tax-services.ca/calculators/payroll-salary/bonus-tax) shows how much you keep.

## What the calculator leaves out

- Overtime. Only the regular hours you type in are counted.

- Unpaid breaks. Don't include them in paid hours.

- Tips, benefits and union dues.

- Most credits. The after-deduction figures use the basic personal amount and the CPP or QPP and EI credits, nothing more.

## How we checked the figures

The 2026 tax and contribution rates come from the published federal and provincial data, which we rechecked on 29 September 2026. Minimum wage figures come from the Ontario employment standards guide. We're an independent site, and no government body is behind it.
