# Accessibility statement

> How Tax-Services.ca aims to be usable for everyone, what we have done, what still needs work, and how to tell us about a problem.

We want everyone to be able to read this site and use its calculators, whether you use a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone or a large font. This page says what we do, what we know is not perfect yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

## What do we aim for?

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We check pages with automated tools and by hand, but those checks do not catch everything, so we do not claim full conformance.

## What have we done?

- A "skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Pages that work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Headings in order, and labelled landmarks such as navigation and sidebars.
- Form fields with labels, and calculator results announced politely to screen readers.
- Text sizes that scale, a layout that works on phones, and no content that needs hovering.
- A light and dark colour scheme, plus a print layout for calculator results.
- Tables that scroll sideways on small screens without hiding data.

## What is not perfect yet?

- Some older articles were written before these checks and may have images with short descriptions, or tables with plain headers.
- Advertising and the cookie banner come from third parties, and we cannot fully control their markup.
- Charts and diagrams are paired with text, but a few older ones have brief alternatives.

Tell us through the [contact page](https://tax-services.ca/contact): the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. We read every message and fix what we can.
